Delaporte, Michel2011-10-242011-10-24http://hdl.handle.net/10713/655Title "L’arracheur" devised from French caption at bottom. Undated, but presumed early 1830’s. Lithograph by Michel Delaporte after original work by Denis Auguste Marie Raffet. The image depicts a standing man showing a pulled tooth to a crowd of onlookers, while the man (who presumably the tooth was pulled) sits next to him, cradling his swollen face. The text on the image is in French, but roughly translates to, "The Snatchman - How do you like the first one? The Spectators - Bravo! Courage! Keep going!." Appeared in "La Caricature" (1830-35), a political satire magazine published by Charles Philipon. From the Piperno Collection. Original piece measures 37 X 28 cm.frdental forcepsDentistry in artTeeth--ExtractionDentists--Caricatures and cartoonsRaffet, Denis Auguste Marie, 1804-1860Philipon, Charles, 1800-1862L'arracheurThe SnatchmanImage
