Abstract

Review of research global survey of EAP professionals conducted in early 2025. Sample of 222 is global, diverse and representative of industry. Artificial intelligence (AI) is expected to play important role in future of employee assistance service delivery (78%). Use of AI by EAPs in early 2025 is low - both personally and for EAP businesses (45%, 38%). Feelings about AI are mixed within EAP field, three general groups: the Connected (37%), the Cautious (45%) and the Critical (18%). Three factors of different AI solutions for use by EAPs in the future were identified from ratings if 14 AI solutions: Factor 1 = AI for business operations; Factor 2 = AI for language translation and text transcribing; and Factor 3 = AI for clinical care (indirect and direct - as chatbot). Most in EAP (52%) reject AI chatbot use for self care “treatment” by clients. AI has small role in context of Modern EAP Core Technology (4 part new model presented) and rise of "Imposter EAPs" in the marketplace. Resources listed for further reading.
