Abstract

In January 2025, the Trump Administration signed multiple Executive Orders targeting diversity, equity, and inclusion initiatives. As a result, over 300,000 Black women have exited the workforce, causing their unemployment rate to rise disproportionately compared to all other racial groups. This newest attack on equality and belonging only illuminates years of unfair treatment and challenges Black women have experienced in the workforce. This project will explore the workplace experiences of Black women, emphasizing the continuous stressors that have created the perfect storm leading to today’s wave of voluntary and involuntary exits. Additionally, a toolkit is offered to encourage Black women to prioritize self-care within the workplace especially during this challenging climate.
