Abstract
Precision Medicine is a medical model that takes into account a patient’s genes, clinical and biomarker information, environment, and lifestyle to individualize medical decisions, treatments, and practices. The ICTR-led My Healthy Maryland Precision Medicine Research program is an unprecedented initiative to advance Precision Medicine in our State. We will engage up to 250,000 research participants inclusive of the diversity of our State, integrating clinical phenomics, genomic and other omic science with informatics and big data analytics for a broad range of research and to improve the health of Marylanders and the value of health care in a dynamic learning health care system environment. This ICTR lecture will review the current state and promises of Precision Medicine, describe the My Healthy Maryland program, and how you can help as health care professionals and citizens of our State to achieve our goals.
