Abstract
This is a presentation about peri-menopause and how it impacts women in the workplace. 50% of women report that menopause symptoms affects performance at work. 40% of women take more sick leave due to menopause symptoms. 26% of women reduce their working hours or refuse promotions. 10% leave work because of menopause symptoms. But women are not accessing the help they need. Over 50% of women do not seek help from their GP for perimenopause, often due to lack of awareness or underestimation of symptoms. Women who do seek help, frequently face inappropriate or delayed treatment leading to frustration or acceptance of unresolved symptoms. - Inadequate training among GPs and the minimisation of perimenopausal symptoms contribute to this gap in care. The presenters have conducted international surveys about the impact of a particular program educating employees about peri-menopause via Metluma which provides the following results: • Provides a whole of company approach. A one-stop-shop for business, addressing the entire company’s needs by ensuring 100% of the workforce understand perimenopause and menopause. • Provide options to support mental and physical wellbeing. • Provides greater empowerment, sense of control. • Reduces the impact of adverse symptoms. • Ensures women can be at their best in work and life.
