Abstract
This is a presentation that Jeff Gorter of R3 gave about the changing nature of the crisis intervention field. The main concept is that these services need to be aware of the context of their delivery.... and the presenter reminded us of the numerous events that have happened in the last year that need to be taken into consideration: • Unprecedented Series of Challenges in the Last Four Years • Global Pandemic (Multiple Waves) • Civil Unrest/Racial Tension following the death of George Floyd • Armed Geopolitical Conflicts (Ukraine, Israel/Hamas) • Protests on Campuses and Companies • Increase in Workplace Violence • Increase in Mass Shootings • Record Wildfires • Frequent/Intense Storm Activity (flooding, etc.) • Successive divisive political seasons; breach of Capitol on Jan. 6, assassination attempts • …and the regular stuff of life! • All add up to unavoidable stress.
