In October 2022, Maryland implemented a new policy which restricted participation in a work experience or community service activity to a maximum of 3 months in a 3-year period. This brief examines adult TCA recipients who participated in one of these two activities during SFY 2023 when the new policy was implemented. We then followed these participants for 6 months after their participation in the activity ended to examine the following outcomes: sanctions, participation in other work activities, and case closure.
