dc.description	In this letter from James Carroll to his wife Jennie Carroll sent from Camp Columbia Cuba, where he is stationed for the United States Yellow Fever Commission, Carroll informs Jennie that he has been approved for additional compensation and that the payments he made for board would be refunded to him. He describes a visit from Dr. McConnell who works for the Army Medical Museum. He describes the changing weather conditions and the conditions in the housing. Additionally, Carroll informs Jennie that a Ward Line steamer recently ran aground in the rocks approximately 100 miles from Havana, about half of the cargo was lost but all of the people were taken off of the ship, he attributes the accident to a captain making his first voyage. Carroll sends thanks to his children for the candy they have sent. Finally, Carroll informs Jennie that Reed gave Carroll a favorable recommendation on his application. He believes that within the month he will have his volunteer commission and be returning home, however he asks Jennie not to mention it to anyone until it is an established fact.	en_US
