dc.description | The 2010 conference reviewed the death of Simon Bolivar who, according to his autopsy results, died of “tuberculosis consumption”. The French physician, Alexandre Reverend, performed the postmortem and attended Bolivar during his final illness. Included is a medical history, description of the military leader’s deterioration during his last weeks and list of drugs administered, and the autopsy results. Dr. Auwaerter’s diagnosis of Bolivar’s cause of death is chronic arsenic poisoning with the possible complication of bronchiectasis. | |
