    Abstract
There is an increased parental concern and awareness regarding complaints of oral malodor in young children. The aim of this investigation is to evaluate oral malodor in young children. The study included a questionnaire followed by clinical examination and laboratory tests. The objective tests included a breath checker, BANA test, organoleptic test and the lead acetate strip test. The perception of oral malodor by the caregivers was significantly associated with the lead acetate strip test. The amount of tongue coating showed significant correlation with the breath test and the BANA test. Among the tests, significant associations were found between the organoleptic test with the breath test and the BANA test. The breath test and the BANA test are easy chair-side tests that can aid in the diagnosis of oral malodor in young children.
