The President's Symposium and White Paper Project is an interprofessional program that explores issues impacting the UMB community. dc.description.abstractThe goals of this paper are to define community engagement at UMB, to assess current community needs, and to present creative ideas for establishing a sustainable urban extension center. We will also comment on the role of race, institutional power, and health disparities as barriers to effective community engagement efforts.
