dc.descriptionHand-signed etching by Enrico Arcioni, this copy is numbered 5 of 10 ; undated, but believed to be 1932. Doctor Arrigo Piperno was a prominent Roman dentist who at one time counted Benito Mussolini and Pope Pius XII among his patients. He was the owner of a collection of historical dental illustrations, which the Library acquired many years ago. In the lower left corner of this image is a representation of the former hermitage Monteluco near Spoleto, the home which Piperno is believed to have purchased in 1918.
