HSHSL Day of Service Encouragement ProjectsThe HS/HSL 's Outreach Service Task Force organized its first virtual Day of Service in June 2020. The event was done virtually as a result of the COVID-19 Pandemic and a way to make the staff feel connected while teleworking. Participants spread encouragement through cards, painted rocks, and by sharing a meal.

HSHSL Day of Service Donation ProjectsThe HS/HSL 's Outreach Service Task Force organized its first virtual Day of Service in June 2020. The event was done virtually as a result of the COVID-19 Pandemic and a way to make the staff feel connected while teleworking. Participants gave donations to Better World Books, Purple Heart, food banks, blood banks, Assistance Center of Towson Churches, Dogtor Loki's Hero Healing Kits, Meals on Wheels, Southern Poverty Law Center, and the Harford County Humane Society.

HSHSL Day of Service Virtual Giving ProjectsThe HS/HSL 's Outreach Service Task Force organized its first virtual Day of Service in June 2020. The event was done virtually as a result of the COVID-19 Pandemic and a way to make the staff feel connected while teleworking. Participants worked with the Smithsonian Institution and Free Minds Book Club.

HSHSL Day of Service Community Clean-up ProjectsParticipants in neighborhood clean-up projects during the HSHSL's June 23, 2020 Day of Service virtual event chose to clean up parks and neighborhoods by picking up trash or weeding. The HSHSL's Service Project Task Force encouraged staff members to give back to their communities during the COVID-19 Pandemic.

HSHSL Day of Service Call for ParticipationCall for participation and email reminders for the Health Sciences and Human Services Library's first ever virtual day of service. The event occurred in June 2020 while staff members were still primarily working from home due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

HSHSL Day of Service Activism ProjectsThe HS/HSL 's Outreach Service Task Force organized its first virtual Day of Service in June 2020. The event was done virtually as a result of the COVID-19 Pandemic and a way to make the staff feel connected while teleworking. Participants worked with the American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU) to send emails and calls for actions and created artwork to sell for a donation to the National Bail Fund.

100 Years Later: Baltimore and the Spanish FluOne hundred years ago, the Spanish flu marched across the globe, leaving between 50 and 100 million people dead in its wake. An exhibit The 1918 Flu Epidemic and Baltimore: 100 Years Later, at the Frieda O. Weise Gallery on the University of Maryland Baltimore campus, chronicles what was going on in the city. Professor Wilbur Chen, a vaccine development specialist, tells us how the flu spreads, and how to prevent it. And Tara Wink, UMB librarian and archivist, offers takeaways from what she learned in compiling the exhibit (from the WYPR website).
