This collection contains pamphlets relating to the personal and professional disagreements between Dr. Granville Sharp Pattison and Dr. Nathaniel Chapman from 1820 to 1821. It is believed that these disparaging pamphlets lead to a duel between Dr. Pattison and General Thomas Cadwalader, the brother-in-law of Dr. Chapman in April 1823.Description
The collection dates from 1820 to 1942, with the majority of the materials dating from 1820 to 1821. It was purchased from Second Story Books in February 2024. The collection is open for research in the Historical Collections of the HSHSL.Rights/Terms
