Abstract
The National Institute on Drug Abuse supports research to develop new medicines and delivery systems to treat opioid use disorder and other substance use disorders as well as other complications of substance use (Including withdrawal and overdose), to help people choose treatments that are right for them.Description
Medications for opioid use disorder are safe, effective, and save lives. The NIDA-produced video (October 21, 2021) takes a closer look at these medications and how they work. The NIDA infographic (January 14, 2022) shows the different types of medications prescribed for opioid overdose, withdrawal, and addiction.Citation
