(2014-10)In 2012, HS/HSL received NIH funding to develop SHARE (Student Health Advocates Redefining Empowerment), a three year project aimed at developing students' skills to advocate for better health of the personal, family, and community level. After gathering best practices from the first two years of instruction, lesson plans were standardized, and on September 2, 2014 the SHARE Curriculum website was announced: http://guides.hshsl.umaryland.edu/projectSHARE

Developing a curriculum to reduce health disparities: SHARE Year 3 - developing a national student health advocacy program for community-academic partnershipsMayo, Alexa A.; Tooey, M.J. (2014-05)In 2012, HS/HSL received NIH funding to develop SHARE (Student Health Advocates Redefining Empowerment), a 3 year project aimed at developing students’ skills to advocate for better health at the personal, family, and community level. The challenges faced during the third year of Project SHARE included: Refine lessons developed in SHARE years 1 and 2; Standardize lesson plans of 12 SHARE instructors; Generalize lesson content and experiential learning activities to allow for use nationwide. The curriculum is expected to be published online by August 2014.
