Description
Transformation of the behavioral health care system to one that is recovery-focused, consumer-centered, and evidence-based is a priority not only in the United States, but around the world. Employee assistance professionals have a key role to play in helping to reduce the stigma and discrimination that keep people from using available and effective mental health and substance abuse treatment programs. They are also well positioned to recognize and address emerging trends in behavioral health, and they have a responsibility to be informed about evidence-based treatment and support services. Finally, the employee assistance professional can be a leader in transforming mental health services in their communities, their states, and their countries. In this address, Kathryn Power discusses these and other topics that will help empower the employee assistance professional to ensure healthy workplaces and productive employees.
