Description
Japanese color print of 1850; this piece is the middle of a three part triptych. Our collection only contains the middle part. Printed by Enshû-ya Hikobei. According to reference sources, the triptych is thought to be a political satire, depicting a female doctor Kogarashi.The doctor sits in the center in front of a floral screen; there are two men sitting in front of her. One man is pulling the tooth of the other man. A third man is cut off from the image. The image includes Japanese writing. The original is printed on fabric.
