Abstract
Introduction. The 3M Healthcare Data Dictionary (HDD), a terminology server, was used to standardize the clinical data used by a decision support system (DSS) supporting clinical quality assurance and reimbursement. The goal of this project was to map the DSS concepts to Systemized Nomenclature of Medicine Clinical Terms (SNOMED CT) to support analysis of the electronic health record (EHR) data. The DSS data included concepts for nine disease processes, among which were chronic obstructive lung disease, pneumonia, and acute coronary syndrome.
