Description
The volume includes handwritten introductory remarks and lectures by Dr. John C. Monkur, Professor of Theory and Practice of Medicine at the Washington University of Baltimore Medical School (formerly Washington Medical College). The first lecture, dated Session 1848-1849 runs from digital pages three to eleven. The purpose of this lecture is to open the session to all students, friends, and supporters of the University. This lecture introduces the school and its hospital. The second lecture, dated session 1845-1846 runs from digital pages thirteen to sixty-six. Like the first lecture the purpose is to open the University session for the students. The theme of the lecture is the importance of education.
