Description
The image is a portrait of Vittorio Cornelio. Undated, but includes an accompanying card which states: “Original copper engraving, after Vacca, by Rinaldi, 1813. Vittorio Cornelio was an important Italian dentist of the late 18th and early 19th Century. His chief merit is as the original inventor of porcelain teeth which brought about a revolution in mechanical dentistry.” Also visible is a manuscript pencil annotation in Italian along the right edge. From the Piperno Collection. Original piece measures 19 X 15 cm.
