Cordell to his parents, Levi O. and Christine Turner Cordell, Eugene describes marching through the Mercer and Raleigh Counties of West Virginia (then Virigina) following several battles. He describes some skirmishes with the Union Army prior to the march and the Confederate's successes in those skirmishes.
