Description
Undated photograph of the portrait of Saint Apollonia painted by the Italian painter Sassetta, which hangs in the National Gallery of Art, Washington, DC. Mounted on matboard. Sassetta's painting believed to be c. 1435. Depicts Saint Apollonia holding dental forceps with an extracted tooth in her right hand and a martyr's palm in her left hand. Original piece measures 23 X 9 cm.
