Description
Article reporting on the closing of the hospital gift shop and dissolution of the Auxiliary. The article also provides a short history of the Auxiliary and its fundraising activities. The article claims that "Social changes in the 1970s led to changes in the Auxiliary as well. Its name changed to reflect the inclusion of both male and female members. As more and more women sought paid employment, the organization's membership--at one point exceeding 250--declined despite recruitment efforts. Finally, this February Auxiliary members voted to disband and close the gift shop as well." The article also includes an in memoriam for Elizabeth Rehm Robinson, who was the last president of the Auxiliary.
Date presumed to be 1998 because this date is handwritten in the upper right-hand corner of the page and the Auxiliary is known to have dissolved in this year. The publication where this articled appeared is unknown.
