Description
Author of the Canon of Medicine, Avicenna is the focus of the 2022 conference. Barring an unknown serious illness in his early 20s, Avicenna had excellent health until age 55 when he began suffering with recurrent abdominal pain. Three years later, in the terminal phase of his illness, Avicenna tried to accelerate his recovery by self-administering celery seed enemas and taking mithridate, but only exacerbated his illness which led to his death at the age of 58. Presenters' final diagnosis: lead poisoning
