Description
Summary of applied research findings in several areas for older adult users of a national EAP counseling and nurse advice telephonic service in the USA. Optum EAP and NurseLine covered 11 million people through 45 health plans and over 35,000 employers; using 300+ staff counselors and nurses in five call center locations. Top reasons why seniors use counseling or why use nurse advice services. Development of wellbeing resource materials for seniors. Development of self-care content for Internet use (called "Golden Web). Average results on multiple outcome areas from follow-up surveys of these users. Age 50+ EAP users (n=606) report outcomes of: 87% stress level reduced; 75% personal relationships better; 75% physical well-being better; 67% work productivity improved; 49% avoided work absence; 34% avoided unnecessary MD office visit; 98% valued having the benefit.
