Abstract

Summary of longitudinal results for counseling cases from the 2017 study, conducted by Chestnut Global Partners in association with the Employee Assistance Professionals Association (EAPA). We compared improvement after counseling (20-90 day follow-up) for the four different workplace outcomes and life satisfaction in over 16,000 EAP cases worldwide. Results for change in mean scores on items were: Work absenteeism improved by 57% (average per case per last 30 days had hours absent at Pre = 5.64 vs hours at Post = 2.43). Work presenteeism improved by 26%. Workplace distress improved by 13%. Work engagement improved by 7%. Overall life satisfaction improved by 22%. Other results for change in the percentage of all EAP cases who were at a problem level on items were: Work absenteeism problem = 32% at Pre vs. 15% at Post. Work presenteeism problem = 55% at Pre vs. 28% at Post. Workplace distress problem = 22% at Pre vs. 13% at Post. Work engagement problem = 31% at Pre vs. 23% at Post. Life Satisfaction problem = 37% at Pre vs. 16% at Post.
