Description
Facsimile of an original watercolor by Trilussa, the pseudonym of Carlo Alberto Salustri, renowned Italian poet and journalist who also created many satirical works of art related to dentistry. Bears caption “Caricatura di Trilussa.” Undated, but possibly early 20th Century ; printed by Arti Grafiche, Panetto & Petrelli, Spoleto. The image depicts a man with a bandaged jaw showing a pulled tooth to a woman, who observes it with a shocked expression. Trilussa was a close friend of Dr. Arrigo Piperno of Rome. This, and several other of his pieces are from the Piperno Collection. Original piece measures 24 X 17 cm.
