Abstract

Conference presentation of Phase 1 of the industry project examining trends in the integration of EAP and work/life services. Survey was conducted in 2000 of individual professionals in the USA and Canada who were members of industry groups EAPA (n=801), EASNA (n=70), and AWLP )=(n=125). Total sample N = 950 (15% response rate). Key findings: 1. Approximately 1 in 6 survey respondents considered themselves both an EA professional and a Work/Life professional, and this was consistent across the three associations. 2 - Factor Analysis of the 30 services offered resulted in four major factors with statistically meaningful groupings: Work/Life services; EAP Core services; Organizational services, and special services. 3 - There is significant integration of the kinds of services offered. Professionals in both EAP and Work/Life fields offer a majority of the services categorized as representing each field. 4- Comments revealed ambivalence toward formal integration of EA and Work/Life programs with a general theme that integration was more beneficial for employees and the company than for the professions
