Description
Douleurs De Dents. Undated facsimile copy of an unknown original. Text on image is in French, but roughly translates to, "To soothe toothaches, one should put in one's mouth very strong brandy, or a clove of garlic cooked under ashes, or a piece of tobacco, or a clove, or elderberry bark boiled in vinegar. When a tooth is completely rotten, it is better to go to the dentist than to use remedies that relieve but do not cure. One can make a tooth fall out without experiencing pain, by putting spirit of ammonia on it." Image excludes additional portions of our full piece, which attributes printing done by Arti Grafiche, Panetto & Petrelli, Spoleto. From the Piperno Collection. Original piece measures 24 X 17 cm.
