Scrapbook of the University Hospital of the University of Maryland during World War II, 1942 to 1945. Many nurses and doctors from the University Hospital served in military hospitals during the war. The scrapbook was a gift of Dr. George H. Yeager.
During World War II many doctors and nurses from the University of Maryland’s University Hospital served in wartime hospitals; the 42nd and 142nd General Hospitals. Dr. Geroge H. Yeager, Lieutenant Colonel with the Twenty-Ninth Division National Guard, headed the 42nd General Hospital. He donated a scrapbook of University Hospital in World War II. The scrapbook includes newspaper clippings, photographs, pamphlets, and correspondence from the doctors and nurses who served in the two General Hospitals in World War II. The scrapbook’s contents are dated from April 16, 1942 to December 26, 1945.; As with many scrapbooks there are materials pasted into the volume that are two or more pages or items hidden behind other items; when possible, all sides of the materials have been scanned and/or items behind other materials have been scanned alone. These items fall as close to possible in order within the PDF. Some items have been stitched back together to complete newspaper clippings.

For the 100th Anniversary of the University of Maryland Dr. Eugene F. Cordell (words) and Dr. Theodor Hemberger (music) worked together to compose the University Ode, which was adopted as the official ode/alma mater by the General Alumni Association on January 21, 1904. The document includes the musical score for the song.
This piece was donated to the library on October 16, 1905 by Dr. Eugene F. Cordell. The Ode was sold by the G. Fred Kranz Music Co., Baltimore. The physical document is held in the Historical Collections of the Health Sciences and Human Services Library.
